Whispers around the Chi are calling for Marlon Byrd to join the Cubs if Granderson isn't going to be acquired.
There is also a chance that Mike Cameron would be an option.

Is Curtis Granderson worth a trade?
Well.. Is he? Will he be any better than in-house options like Colvin or Fuld?
The fact this his MLB tenure has proven he can't hit lefties is a problem.
The Tigers have already said they want a high level prospect for a player who is one dimensional on offense. He is a great defender, but his offense is on the negative.
He is a Chicago guy. Went to school in the city.
Maybe if he comes for a smaller package it would be ok. He's just not worth a big package to me.
Get Doc or not?
Rumors have been floating around about a possible Roy Halladay trade to the Cubs. There are multiple issues that have to be taken with this potential trade.
- The prospects we would have to send to Toronto. Odds are it would have to be Castro, Cashner and maybe more. Is that worth it?
- If we do get Halladay, can we sign him to an extension? We would have to make the trade worthwhile.
For the first time in years we have a good farm system that may actually net us the high end talent we need.
We should keep the kids. What do you think?
ESPN's Jayson Stark Report on Starlin Castro
DeRosa not to be a Cub in the future.
Cubs are not interested in signing DeRosa, who is looking for a multiyear deal, is unsurprising. He was appreciated here in Chicago, but even though he brings versatility, the Cubs simply don’t have a spot for him. Between Jeff Baker, Mike Fontenot, Jake Fox, Andres Blanco, and (sigh) Aaron Miles, the Cubs have the coverage that DeRosa offers, if not quite the bat.
